Friday, June 17th, the Northwest Indian College Board of Trustees is hosting a reception in honor of NWIC graduates. The Reception is scheduled from 2-4 pm in the Log Building on the Lummi Campus. Following the reception is the 2011 Commencement Ceremony scheduled at the Wexliem Community Building at 5:00 pm, dinner following. NWIC installs new digital reader board sign

Northwest Indian College is now home to a state-of-the-art LED Watchfire digital reader board, which was installed Thursday, May 19.

The electronic sign is visible along Kwina Road, and will serve as a reliable source of up-to-date news, event notices and public service announcements about the college and community.

 

NWIC Native Foods Educators honored with food and farming fellowship

Northwest Indian College's Valerie Segrest, Community Nutritionist and Native Foods Educator for the Cooperative Extension Department, has been selected as an advocate for a prestigious Kellogg-funded food and farming program.

Online financial education available for Native Students

A series of four handbooks titled “Developing Your Vision While Attending College” has been co-developed by the American Indian College Fund and the National Endowment for Financial Education® (NEFE®).

Northwest Indian College Lummi Library now live on Evergreen

Northwest Indian College’s library at the Lummi Campus, located near Bellingham, Washington, has gone live with Evergreen library software as their next generation Integrated Library System (ILS).  Equinox Software oversaw the migration of data from the College’s previous system, provided staff training, and will continue to provide technical support.

National Endowment for the Humanities awards NWIC Challenge Grant

Northwest Indian College’s Coast Salish Institute is the recipient of a $500,000 capacity-building grant by the National Endowment for the Humanities for the continued preservation and revitalization of the highly-endangered Coast Salish languages and cultures.

NWIC presents Saturday Science Academy workshops

Northwest Indian College's Science Department is hosting a newfangled educational program at the Lummi Campus for high school and NWIC students. The next session will be held on Saturday, June 11th.

Two Tribal Casino Management courses added this Winter

Northwest Indian College will be offering two courses - Introduction to Casino Management (HRCM 111) and Tribal Casino Management Practicum (HRCM 197) - starting Monday, Jan. 10.  Both courses will be taught by Frank Cornett and offered via ITV from Port Gamble.

The two courses can be taken with Business Law (BUAD 202) and Financial Accounting (BUAD 212), also offered Winter Quarter, and count towards an Award of Completion in Tribal Casino Management.
